Crowns and Bridges

There are many types of crowns and bridges for your teeth. However, tooth-colored porcelain ones are very common, because they can resemble your natural teeth. These crowns are very durable and last for years. Your porcelain crown can be created to match the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth. Dr. Wilson mills crowns right here in our office, many times in the same appointment!

A Zirconia crown has similar properties to titanium but it is ceramic. It is strong, durable, and tooth-colored. It combines the strength of a metal crown with the more natural look of a porcelain crown.

PFM crowns, which stands for porcelain fused to metal, are made of a metal alloy at the base and topped by porcelain. They're natural-looking and durable.

Gold crowns are a type of metal crown. There is the option of a crown made of gold or gold alloy.

The reasons to have a crown placed include:
  • Cosmetic enhancement
  • Decayed teeth
  • Fractured fillings
  • Large fillings
  • Root canals

Dental Veneers

Veneers are very durable and will last you for many years. They are an excellent cosmetic option to give you a natural, white, beautiful, and uniform smile. There are a number of reasons to choose porcelain veneers, including:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Teeth that are too small or large
  • Unwanted or uneven spaces between teeth
  • Very discolored or stained teeth
  • Worn or chipped teeth

Root Canal Therapy

A root canal treatment is nothing to be afraid of! It is a safe procedure that has a high success rate, and many times will last a lifetime. However, there are some instances that a second root canal on a tooth happens because of new or recurrent infections. It is important to continue regular dental exams and cleanings to ensure a long lasting, good result.

If you are seeing any of the following symptoms, then you may need a root canal. Keep in mind that sometimes there are no obvious symptoms.

  • An abscess or pimple on the gums
  • Sensitivity to hot and/or cold
  • Severe toothache pain
  • Swelling and/or tenderness

Root canal therapy may be necessary if decay has reached your tooth's pulp (the tissue inside the tooth), an infection or abscess has developed inside the tooth or at its root tip, or if there has been trauma or an injury to your tooth.

 Root Canal Restorations

At Wilson Family Dental, Dr. Wilson has the skills and knowledge to perform endodontic procedures. This includes implementing singular and multiple canals and root canals. In some instances, a cavity can affect your tooth so much that a filling isn't enough. When a patient is experiencing severe pain, continual dull ache, or swelling- this could mean the nerve in the tooth is being traumatized and will need to be removed. When this is done, the pain should subside. When the nerve is removed from the tooth (root canal therapy), the tooth structure is weakened. In order to keep the tooth in place and be strong again, a post and core build-up happens, and a beautiful, natural looking crown will take its place.

Dental Implant Placement and Restoration

When a tooth is or has been extracted, and there is an empty space left, Dr. Wilson has the knowledge and skill to place an implant after the extraction site is healed. After the implant is placed and is healed, Dr. Wilson will skillfully and beautifully restore the implant with an implant restoration crown.
